taskbar notification area

Pam

My son went online from my computer and downloaded some
games. (a definite no-no)
When he was done on the computer, and returned to windows,
my taskbar had completely disappeared, and all of the
icons were very large. I knew he had changed my screen
resolution, so I fixed those settings, but my taskbar was
still completely unavailable. I needed to reboot in order
to recover the taskbar.
My problem now is that the taskbar notification area seems
to have shrunk and the active program icons can not be
seen unless I enlarge my taskbar. Rather than being side
by side horizontally, they are stacked vertically on top
of each other. In order to see all five of the icons, I
have to enlarge the taskbar until it is approximately 3+
inched thick. Any help?

go back to your desktop properties, and go to settings,
and make sure that not only is it 800x600 but also that
the color quality is set to 32 or 24 bit and that your
DPI (which is located under advanced button near the
bottom) is set to normal

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

Save the .REG File to a hard disk.
Double click the .REG File; answer yes to the "Registry Editor" prompt.
(To view a REG file in Notepad, right click on the file, then select Edit.)
