taskbar keeps resetting.

hi,

My taskbar keep resetting,
i unlock the taskbar,
re-stretch the quick launch section.
remove the "search assistant" tool bar
Re-lock the taskbar..

log out
log in.
and the taskbar is back the way it was before..

as if i hadnt made any changes..

is there any way i can reset it back to the original
defualt, or force it to save my preferences.
