Taskbar icons change

I drag icon from address bar in IE to taskbar and get a
custom icon which helps distinguish it from others. It
stays that way for a day or two then reverts to the
generic link icon. Anyone know how to make it stick?

I think you are talking about Favicons which are used by certain web
sites. The icons are kept in the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES folder and
therefore go away when you flush this cache. Get FavOrg
(http://www.gratilog.net/anglais/internet/favorg.zip) or some similar
software to make these icons permanent.
