Taskbar expands with quick launch toolbar

With the task bar empty except for clock and 4 small icons in notification area
when i add the quick launch toolbar the taskbar doubles in height.

With or without the quick launch toolbar there is a verticle seperator
bar next to the start button that i can't move with the mouse as i can
with other toolbars.

i have restarted the computer but it still does the same thing.

any help or suggestions will be appreciated

did you lock the task bar? try it

i tried locking the taskbar but the
same thing happens.

this is probably stupid suggestion but did you resize it while it was
unlocked by dragging edges?

no it's not stupid but i am
i must have inadvertenely drug the quick launch toolbar
across or above another toolbar or task button which
forced the taskbar to expand. i had to do some manipulation
but i got everthing lined up on and the taskbar wen't back to
it's normal size Problem solved thanks again
