taskbar disappears when i click quick launch

Hi My taskbar use to be able to show all the programs that i had open and was
able to switch them from one open to another via the taskbar.

I thought it was cus i had quicklaunch checked but when i uncheck
quicklaunch the taskbar disappears.

How do i reset my taskbar to the way it was when i org. got my pc and had
none of these problems?
under the start menu....taskkbar...i have checked
lock the taskbar
keep the taskbar on top of other windows
group similar taskbar buttons
show quick launch (if i uncheck that taskbar disappears)
