this time I deleted both pasticons and icons,
and it worked,leaving the current up.
Thing is when I reboot they may come back
like it did last time,but that's to be found out.
For now it worked,thanks..

This might happen if you've only one of these keys:
(IconStreams and PastIconsStream)
Delete the IconStreams and PastIconsStream values from the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi

n\Explorer\TrayNotify
Have you tried the script? does the job correctly
(deletes the keys and restarts the shell)

Thank you Ramesh,
but when I cleaned the oldpastitems,
all it did is replace the "original" icons with
"Folder" icons,it did not remove the rest of the
past items.If this doesn't take anything away from
my memory,maybe I just leave it all alone.

Hello all,
when I go to my settings-control-taskbar and start menu,
in my xp home,I click on taskbar-customize and
customize notifications,I scroll down a bit and see
"past items".There are things I don't even have anymore.
So how can I remove some of the old "past items"?
