Taskbar changes settings by itself upon restart.

Whenever I restart my computer, the settings such as "automatically hide the
taskbar" and "show quick launch" deselect themselves. Also, maybe unrelated,
but similarly, the desktop display setting "arrange icons" automatically
reverts to "align to grid" when I have it unselected.
Anyone know how to fix these annoyances?? I'd greatly appreciate your help!
