Task with end date before start date can't be deleted

End date was entered before start date in recurring task. After mistakenly
saving, now the warning screen promptly tells me every time I launch Outlook
that it's a problem, but I can't find any remedy to delete the offending
task. Removing the task from the calander made no difference. No other inputs
or menus for changing the wrong date were found. Attempts of overwriting the
old task with a new corrected task was futile. Any help before yet another
warning "thunk" drives us crazy?

Could you explain a few basic details to start with:

version of Outlook
is it a Task or is it something on your Calendar?

What happens when you try to delete it? Exactly what.

My version of Outlook is 2003.

The task was entered in the task list, and an occurrence was put in wrong –
the start was 7:00 PM and the end incorrectly entered as 11:00 AM for the
same days to reoccur, and was entered – and accepted!

Now, every time I open Outlook, I am reminded permanently of my misdeed by
the following warning message: “Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be
reminded again. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter
values are not valid.†(Okay, Outlook, thanks for reminding me once again.)

The task still remains in the in box folder, as well as in the Task view. I
get the following if I attempt to delete it in any way: “Can’t open this
item. The end date you entered occurs before the start date.†(Okay, Outlook,
I already know that – how about telling me how to fix it.)

I read your settings on your web page – great suggestions, thanks. If you
figure this one problem out, that would gain me some satisfying control. But
for now, I’m following your more practical advice – why be reminded (or
annoyed) in the first place? Within the advanced commands found, I simply
turned all of the reminders off for good.

Thanks for the clarification. However, there are no start or end times for
Tasks. You have it seems made an appointment in your Calendar. Tasks have
start and end days.

Maybe the cleanreminders switch will help you.

If not, come back and we'll get some more help from the other MVPs
