task scheduler

At seemingly unconnected times a message window appears
saying "some tasks could not be performed because the
task scheduler service is not running".
I have backup tasks scheduled but I can find no way to
start or stop the scheduler service.
Any help/thoughts will be welcome.

One more option you may like to try.

Open Task Scheduler ( Start > All Pgms > Acc > Syst Tools)
[Advanced] on Toolbar > [*Stop* Using Task Scheduler] on menu.

You may like to check if this works: [View Log] on menu.
Note the time of the last item on the scrolled list. Take some time.

To switch *off* the Service (no practical reason for doing that):
[*Start* Using Task Scheduler] which has replaced the [Stop Using.....] on
the same menu. Check again.
