After I downloaded and installed SP2 for pro I lost all internet
connectivity and when ever I try to access the task manager it pops
up and then just dissapears like it was closed by windows with an
error. I go to the event viewer to see if there are any errors and
there isn't. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this. Oh yea I
can't get into the security center either I double click on it or
single click on it and nothing happens. This is a fresh install of
the XP software so I haven't installed my firewall or my antivirus
software yet. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks is advance

SP2 is more sensitive to spyware and hijacks than earlier versions of WinXP
were.
First eliminate any spyware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
