Task Manager

I'm new to Vista and have a question about task manager. Once in awhile, I
get a program that "hangs up" and I want to close the task. That works fine,
however, I don't have a red x to close task manager. How do you close it?
This seems like a silly question but I just cannot close it.....

This is a very common problem, it is actually "by design". Task Manager is
*supposed* to be able to optionally display in this manner. See:

Double-click anywhere on the border of the Task Manager window - the normal
controls will re-appear.

Doubleclick near the borders and Task manager will go back to "tiny
footprint" mode. And so on, back and forth.

You're running in what's called "Small Footprint Mode." To change back
and forth from this mode to regular mode, just double-click on the
border.

Ken, I do not quite comprehend the discussion. If I do Ctrl+Alt+Del I get a
blue screen where I can choose the Task manager as the last option. The GUI
does have a red button. What are you all talking about?

I just tried to have it disappear and I could not do it. I do have Ultimate.

Thanks

Now double-click the Task Manager border. You will lots of stuff
disappear. That's the "Small Footprint Mode" I mentioned. Then
double-click the border to get everything back.
