Hi there

When I open task manager or regedit or msconfig, they pop
up on the screen and then switch off before I can do
anything with them.
I have done virus checks and have used adaware to check
for spyware but both are clear.
This has happened quite a few times to me now and the
only thing that seems to put it right is a format and re-
install. System restore doesn't put it right.

Can anybody help.???

Thanks......

Mark

I have this same problem, if you figure out how to fix it
please tell me!! It is very frustrating and I cant figure
out why it is doing this. It doesnt seem at all like a
virus or something from the internet but like a flaw in
xp itself. weird. e-mail me or post here if you find the
solution please.

Hello Mark!
Restore Task Manager, Msconfig and Regedit:

This worm disables NAV, Msconfig, Regedit and Task
Manager:
http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/virusinfo.php?
menu_id=1&v_id=114

Rename regedit.exe to regedit.com then: Download then
Merge the edit on line 251 then delete all the files
mentioned in the above link. http://www.kellys-korner-
xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk.
Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. REG
files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the
file and selecting Edit.
