TasK Manager

On one of my computers, XP Pro Task Manager does NOT show ANY
Applications running under the Applications tab. On my other computer,
it DOES show Applications that are running.
All relative settings seem to be the same on both computers - unless I
missed something.
Any suggestions what the cause/remedy might be?

Resetting the Taskbar preferences helps in some cases:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager

Delete the TaskManager key. This key will be rebuilt the next time you open
Task Manager.

If that does not help, compare the Services configuration with the working
system.
