Could someone please assist me with this. My task manager
is disabled and advise me to speak to my administrator
when I try to run task manager. My user id is part of the
local administrators group. Is there somewhere in XP that
one should enable the task manager functionality?

Hi Diane,

Start/run regedit. Go to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager

Click on it and delete it. Then retry running Task Manager. If it still
refuses to open, then you may have an infection as many viruses will cause
this problem.

If that did not help, please check this registry editing ste

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PoliciesSystem
Value Name: DisableTaskMg
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value
Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = disable Task Manager)
