Task Manager won't display process tab

Cntrl-Alt-Del on Windows XP Home brings up task manager
but it comes up minimized, and when you open it the only
tabs at the top are Task and Status. No ability to check
processes and make sure I don't see any worms or virus
programs like msblast running.

What's wrong? Any ideas how to get Task Mgr to display
the various tabs? I'm logged onontethe administrator?
