I administer several Windows XP Professional machines. On each, I put a
shortcut to Task Manager in the Startup folder for All Users. The shortcut
is configured to Run Minimized, and Task Manager is configured to Hide When
Minimized. I do this so that the users and myself can watch the CPU Usage
meterin the system tray at all times.
This works on most machines, but not all. On some machines, the CPU Usage
meter displays only sporadicly, and sometimes not at all. If I start Task
Manager manually, the CPU Meter still does not display, but the Performance
tab tells me that Task Manager was indeed started at logon.
I've searched the Internet for this topic and found various pages, but
nothing with a definitive answer.
What is the cause of this problem? Is there a complete solution? If not,
what are the work-arounds?
TIA,
David
