Task manager shows only application tab

Hi.

I have been experiencing a weird situation, which I have
tried to resolve by running anti virus scans, adaware
scans and even installed SP4, with the hope that the
problem will be solved.
Here's the issue: when I try to open Taks manager, it
opens only a stripped window of the "Applications" tab.
neither "Processes" or "Performance" tab, as well as the
top menus and the "End Task", "Switch to" and "New
Task..." buttons.
I can only close it by ALT+F4. I'd send a picture of the
window, if I knew how on this board...

any idea how that might have happened, and how it can be
fixed?
