I am working on a W2K Pro PC (Service Pack 3 with a number
of pre- and SP4 Hotfixes) that was until recently littered
with Data Miners, SpyWare, and the like. I used Ad-Aware
to clean this up, Symantec virus removal tools to check
for all of the recent high-profile virus and worm threats,
and checked to see if the drive needed defragging (it did
not). The PC appears to be running better, but I cannot
install SP4 or pull up Task Manager (the window appears
briefly, the full-tilt icon appears in the system tray,
and then it all goes away). As I am working on this PC for
someone else I would like to resolve these issues before
returning it to them and will appreciate any help that
anyone can offer.
Thanks,
