Task Manager Closes Itself - Win2k

Hi there, when I hit CNTL-ALT-DEL and go to Task Manager it displays
for half a second and then closes itself.

From doing google newsgroup searches I see that this is a common
symptom of certain viruses. However, I seriously doubt I have any
-known- virus. I am behind firewalls & routers, I dont open email
attachments, etc etc. I have run THREE different anti virus programs
(AVG, McAfee, Swat It) plus AdAware. I am very very clean.

I have tried the most common suggested solution I've seen posted
(moving taskmgr.exe, renaming it, launching it) but I still have the
same problem even with a renamed taskmanager.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings --

The type of behavior you describe is typical behavior of more than
one virus/worm, the three below being the most common:

W32.Klez

W32.Yaha

W32.Spybot.Worm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.spybot.worm.html

Because many of the newer viruses and worms, such as the
Spybot mentioned above, can disable antivirus applications whose
definitions aren't kept up-to-date, try using one or more of the free
on-line scanners to double-check your system.

McAfee Security - FreeScan

I have now tried four different top-of-the-line virus scanners. I am
interested if anyone has any suggestions other then the standard "run
a virus scan" response.
