I put a network in at my house, and I don't know if doing that changed a
setting or not, but now on two of my computers when you start them up a
screen comes on that asks for a password. When you choose to shut them down,
a similar screen appears and gives you a pull down menu of options, and when
I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, everything except the background picture dissapears
and gives you a bunch of options including task manager. The wierd thing is
that it is in the old style of windows, but the appearence option is on xp
mode? Please Help!

1. Click Start - Control Panel - open User Accounts
2. Click Change the way users log on or off
3. Make a check mark on "Use the Welcome Screen".

If an error message comes up while turnning on the Welcome Screen, see the
link below:

Hope this help, let us know!

Somehow windows 2000 style logon was enable. Probably because it is a
bit more secure. The above advice should fix your issue.
