How can I make tasks not show up untill there start date. I would like to be
able to add items to my task list far in advance but no have them show up in
my current task list untill the start date

Thank you

Well.... that depends on your Version of Outlook and whether you are talking
about seeing them in the TaskPad or in the Task Folder.

Tell me those two snippets of info and I'll tell you the answer.

If they didn't appear on your Task List you wouldn't know what you'd created
and be able to change or delete them if you wanted to.

The best way to use Tasks is in Outlook Today. If you don't know where that
is just click on PERSONAL FOLDERS and it will appear. Click on CUSTOMIZE
OUTLOOK TODAY then under TASKS check the TODAY'S TASK box and then you'll
only see your current tasks.

If you check the box at the top of the screen you'll see OUTLOOK TODAY
everytime you open Outlook. Just make sure your've got your NAVIGATION PANE
turned on (VIEW, NAVIGATION PANE), or if you're like me, you'll wonder how
the hell to find you emails.

Hi,

That worked great. Now is there any way to get those future tasks out of my
to-do bar? All of those pink flags and lists of things I don't even need to
think about right now are really distracting.

BTW, I use 2007

Thank you,
Sapphire

I'm using Outlook 2003 so I don't know if what I say will work for 2007.

First of all, with the Tasks List, if you sort them in ascending date order
than all those future ones will be at the bottom. To do this you can click
on the words Due Date at the top of the column. Clicking a second time will
reverse the order.

Secondly, if you look at your Calendar with the TaskPad turned on (View,
TaskPad) you'll only see the current and overdueTasks listed. Maybe there's
a setting somewhere that will make tasks invisible until they're current, but
I haven't found it.

There are also some Tasks settings you can play with on the Tools, Options,
Preferences, Task Options menu. And there are more on the Task form itself.

you can Customise Current View of the TaskPad. Right click the TaskPad
where it says Subject, and use the Customise Current View button.
