Task List is wrong type for "My Music" folder

The task list in the "My Music" folder is showing "Picture Tasks" rather
than "Music Tasks". The contents of the desktop.ini file are as follows but
appears alright to me. Changing the name of the "My Music" folder to
anything else corrects the problem. Any solution?

It may be that the logical pointer to My Music has got to point to the
wrong place; or. perhaps more likely, f that the My Pictures one has -
pointing to My Music. Having two such logical names pointing to the
same thing is bad news. Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if
you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its My Computer - Special folders page will allow you to select each of
these names and see what actual folder is in use. If there are
conflicts Change Folder to point to a different one, so each has its
separate home

Thanks for responding. Using TweakUI, I took at look at the Special Folder
associations, but they are all good. I've also checked any references to My
Pictures and My Music in the registry, and all seems well. Unfortunately,
resetting folder views from Control Panel > Folder Options didn't work
either. Anything else I could try? (BTW, I'm running XP Home Edition.)

Brent,

Try using Regmon and changing the folder type manually. Instructions here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_common_tasks.htm

Also, I've found that windows stores separate bag info for My Documents and
it's subfolders depending on how they were accessed. The 'My Documents'
desktop shortcut, Document Stored...'Keith's Documents' under My Computer,
and the full 'C:\Documents and Settings\Keith\My Documents' all retain
separate view settings. Through intentional tampering, I currently have
music tasks when accessing MD from the desktop, picture tasks when accessing
from My Computer, and video tasks when accessing through the full path.

So you may need to perform the fix 3 times!!!
