task bar won't drag out of sight

Hi,

On my old computer I could drag the taskbar along the bottom out of sight
when needed. But on this one I can't seem to get it to drag. I do get the
double arrowed cursor but it won't budge the taskbar. By the way, the
option to "lock the taskbar" is NOT checked. I did check it and then
uncheck it again to make sure that was not the problem.
