Task Bar - "windows"

Somehow it "disappeared"! In Internet Explorer - On the
TASK BAR -- I used to be able to see, next to the "Start"
button, the list of web pages that either "popped up" or I
accessed and minimized. This "window" disappeared, and I
have tried everything to get it back. Can someone tell
this "computer ignorant" person how to get this window
back -- the easiest way?

Right-click the START button. Click PROPERTIES|CUSTOMIZED button|ADVANCED
tab.
Tic the "show recent documents" checkbox.
