Task bar window selection

Hi,

I've found that Windows XP has its own idea of what windows to open when I
select them from the taskbar. It seems to select windows that were open at
the same time. Is there any way to shut off this ``smart'' behaviour? I'm
used to Windows 2000 and can't really get used to this window selection.

Explain better please. Are you saying you click on a minimized program in
the task bar and it doesn't become active? Explain exactly, step by step,
what your trying to do.

Hi Daniel,

Right click the Taskbar/Properties and uncheck group similar taskbar
buttons.

No, that didn't do it. It still happens that when I have several small
windows open (visible) and a maximized window in the background, then select
an unvisible small window some of the visible small windows disappear behind
the maximized window in the background. This might be a bug though, not a
feature.

Hi Daniel,

This happens from time to time. If you notice, when it does: tooltips, etc
also show behind the Taskbar and you may not be able to get the date by
hovering the clock (YMMV). A reboot is the only way to correct this
behavior so far.

From my testing, runtime doesn't play a part nor does crashing explorer.exe
