Taking too long to load settings

The Windows XP in my notebook is taking too long to come
to the desktop screen. When swtich on, everything is
working fine until the sign on screen. After I have keyed
in my id, password and press enter key. The screen will
be blank in blue screen for 20 to 25 seconds before the
load setting message box pops up, which then follow
quickly by desktop screen. It use to be pretty fast. I
did install Windows XP SP2. It took even longer, 2
minutes. Can someone please tell me how can I reduce this
boot/start up waiting time?

And check the intranet settings; turn off if you aren't using.

| First, run a disk cleanup & defrag. It might help.
| Secondly, search Microsoft's Download Center
| (http://www.microsoft.com/download) for "UPHClean".
