Taking data from forms

Hi I'm new here but I did look for my answer in the past posts so I either
overlooked it or it's new.

I'm trying to take data/information from a form, like copying it, and
pasting it into another Word document. I'm using 07 by the way.
When I paste the copied portion, it comes up with gray highlighting behind
the text. I cannot get rid of it. It's not actually highlighting.

How can I get a clean copy of what was entered into a form box?

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do, but have you tried using the
"Save data only for forms" option in Tools | Options | Save?

Suzanne,
thanks for taking time to look at this post and answer it.
what you suggested didn't work. For one thing 2007 doesn't have a tab for
Tools. I looked at the Save As options and didn't find it there either. I
also typed Save data only for forms in the help box with no help.

I'm just trying to take information from a form and create another document
with that information. I'd like it to be clean, meaning that the gray color
doesn't come along.

There is such an option in Word 2007, but it is worded differently (there
was considerable discussion of the ambiguous wording of that label,
especially the placement of "only"). It might still not be what you want,
however (it saves the form field entries in a comma-delimited text file, I
think).

That does sound as if it would help my project along. Care to share where
that ambiguous wording on that particular label may be?
Found it!!
Developer>Legacy(Controls)>Form Shading

good god what a job!
