take "Write-Protected" off files

I have an MP3 player and I want to delete some of the songs on it. I have the
files to delete but when I try to delete them they say "Write-Protected" what
can I do to change the properties and remove the write-protected problem?
please help

I don't know what you can do to files on the MP3 player.
As long as files are on your computer (or on storage media connected to it),
you could select the files in Windows Explorer (or equivalent) and from the
context menu access the properties, including the Read-only attribute.
(Note that you can't change things on read-only media (like a CD-ROM) or on
random-access media through a read-only device (like a CD-RW in a CD-ROM
drive).)

Another cause for "Write-protected" messages is that the selected file is in
use. And I remember files being "in use" long after I had closed the
application (notably Word), but within the same session. Perhaps playlists
could play such a role with MP3 files. I don't know, I don't expect so.
