tabsrv error

Mark

While trying to run the repair installation procedure
from the Windows XP disk, the installation continuously
stops with the error message "setup was unable to start
service tabsrv because of thefollowing error: OpenService
(tabsrv) returned error 1060 (424).

I can't find any information on this error message.
Please help.

Thanks

tabsrv service is a virtual keyboard thing that comes with Windows Tablet
Edition. Perhaps that helps?

Buz, I have the same problem. Dont recall installing any virtual
keyboard, but I'm getting the same error message(followed by fatal
error because product catalogs didn't install) during a repair install
and am unable to continue. I can't even boot into safe mode to try to
get rid of the virtual keyboard software(assuming I could find it). It
says I can't run in safe mode because my setup has not finished and
reboots me to the setup screen which, of course, ends up stopping at
the same error. Catch 22!

Is there any way around this short of a destructive reinstall?
