Table of Contents

I have a one-page HTML document (with multiple headings) and I would like to
create a Table of Contents at the top of the page. Yet, when I try 'Insert
Web Component > Table of Contents' I get a message telling me that 'my
page needs to be saved to the web'.

How can I create a simple Table of Contents for my HTML document using
FrontPage (I can easily do this with Word).

Using FrontPage 2002 SP2 on Windows 2000 SP4.

The FrontPage Table of Contents component creates a list of pages in your
web - not the same thing as a Word Table of Contents. It sounds like you
are working with a standalone page, not a page in a web site.

could you define how you mean "table of contents" and what would it do if
the web consists of only one page?

I'm sure there's a simple solution.

If you make web sites for other people, you should check out ContentSeed:

Thank your for your response. Yes, it is a single page (divided into
sections that start with HTML headings). The page will eventually be put on
a website but for now I would like to generate a simple table of contents
where users can click on the links and be taken directly to the right
sections.

It would even be better if I could place this table of contents in a
separate frame (to the left hand-side of the document; the way Word does it)
but I suspect there's no easy way to do that in FrontPage.

Oh, I see. I thought it would create a table of contents for the headings
in an HTML page. Yes, it is a stand-alone page. Thank you for your
response.
