I am using Word 2002 and I have document with the Index at the end. I would
like to include "Index" in my Table of Contents with the page number. I have
tried everything and nothing seems to work. My "Index" title is centred on
the page but I didn't think this would make a difference.

Thanks for any light on this.

I figured it out. I needed to go to Options in the Table of Contents dialog
box and then click on Table Entry Fields. Worked. My "Index" title does not
have a number beside it, but at least it shows on the TOC.

Thanks,

If you give the title "Index" a heading style that is defined in the TOC
definition it shd be included in yr TOC. In case you have numbered
headings, and want "Index" not numbered, create a style equal to the
heading level w/o the number (say "Heading 1 w/o") and assign this to
"Index". In the TOC make sure "Heading 1 w/o" is included on the
level you want.
If this doesnt make sense pls post back with more details (what Word
version?) and I'll try to guide you further.
