table borders

I want to create a table with transparent borders. The reason is I want
drawing shapes on 1 side like a square and writing in the cell next to it.
Otherwise if i place a circle or square i cant write words next to it like
cells in a table.

Specific instruction will vary depending on which version of Word you're
using - which you fail to mention - but what you basically want to do is
turn off the default borders. In Word 2003, for example;

Table> Select> Table
Format> Borders & Shading> None (or you can use the Tables & Borders toolbar
which has a Borders button)

Note that this will still leave the *Gridlines* displayed which do not
print. They only display on screen and it's quite helpful to have the
gridlines displayed while editing the doc. However, you can also toggle the
gridlines Off/On in the Table menu if and when you wish.
