How does one produce a tabbed interface on a form in the following example?

Put a Tab control on your form. Then put the controls/subforms you want
onto each page of the tab control. The main thing to be aware of is to have
the desired page of the tab control selected when you add controls, to
ensure that they appear on the tab page rather than on the underlying form.
