Tab lines

I am adding lines to my document by clicking on underline the tabbing over,
but when I go to number the questions, the lines disappear? What am I doing
wrong?
 
That's what I suspected. When you apply numbering in Word 2007, I believe
Word is applying the List Paragraph style, so any direct formatting you have
applied to the paragraph could be wiped out by application of the different
