Tab key jumps several columns. How can I reset tab key to default

The tab key jumps several columns to the right when I press it. How can I
reset the tab key to move just one column to the right?

try this.
on the menu bar..
Tools>options>transition tab>uncheck transition navigation keys.

I thought I would add a note that in Excel 2007 its
Office Button/Excel Options/Advance
Down towards the bottom is
Lotus Compatibility,
uncheck "transition navigation keys"
