system32 folder opens each time I start computer - why?

For some weird reason, the "system32" folder appears when I start up my
computer. (I have a 1-year-old Dell Dimension.)

A shortcut is not in my startup folder and I can't think of what else this
might be.

Is there some way for me to stop this from happening? Where should I be
looking?

Thanks - Tim

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys. It can also
be caused by an entry in these same keys that starts with a " / ."

Hi

No, those files are not unsafe, although you may have to configure your
Firewall to let them through. A lot of those files save having to manually
editing the Registry, which 'can' be dangerous.

What's with all the VBS stuff? Aren't these unsafe?

While it's true that malicious individuals do often write and
distribute destructive Visual Basic Scripts, Kelly isn't one of them.
Her scripts are safe to use.

Although some such scripts can be unsafe, Kelly is one of the
most helpful, most regular, and most highly respected posters
here. Her scripts are safe.
