system32 folder opens at startup

I recently fell victim to an ad-ware virus type thing, so
i kept receiving pop-up ads even though i have a good pop-
up blocker (google toolbar). I've managed to get rid of
all my pop-ups and unwanted software that got installed,
but now every time i startup Windows (xp professional),
the system32 folder opens (found in c:\windows\). how can
i make this stop happening?
