Okay so here's what happened. One day, I got a virus.
The virus was annoying. The virus infested
System32.dll. There was no solution to the virus, so I
was forced to quarantine system32.dll. Now everytime I
boot up my computer, I get an annoying error message
saying that it can't find System32.dll. Ever since I had
to delete it, things have been acting weird. For
instance, many of the features under the "Accesories"
menu in the start menu are gone for some reason. And
The sound tray icon doesn't come up when you boot the
computer anymore (which can be very annoying). So, here
are my questions. Are these 2 problems linked with
System32.dll being gone? If they aren't, how can I fix
these problems, and how can I get System32.dll back????
Please help me! Thank you.

In a word, YES! The system32.dll has everything to do
with your problems. I'm surprised you could boot. There
is a tool in system information or in help center that
lets you restore a file from the XP CD. (You do have the
CD?!) Stick the CD in your drive and run the app.
Specify system32.dll. Something that is weird is that XP
should have fixed it for you. When a system file gets
deleted it is restored by the file protection service.

You don't want it back, system32.dll is part of the virus, not a Windows
file. You need to properly clean up the virus with an up to date anti
virus. Also you should run HijackThis, from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html and post the log to a
forum for help, such as, http://spywarewarrior.com/viewforum.php?f=2

Well, if it's just part of the virus, which I already got
rid of by quarantining system32.exe, why is Windows
saying that System32.exe is missing????? Oh and BTW, I
made a mistake, it's System32.exe not .dll

Because an entry in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

refers to it.
