system32.dll missing

Several times I have had this problem:
computer shuts down on its own and restarts, gets to VIAO screen then shows
that CPU cant start windows because it cant find system32.dll file.

try to restart but same thing happens. I then restore CPU and all is well
for a while then it happens again and again. 5 times in 3 months.

what could be causing this.
I have another CPU and have the same programs on it and this has never
happened on it.

could this be a hard drive issue or windows XP media edition glitch.

your help is greatly appreciated.

First, as a matter of terminology, you don't restore the CPU. The CPU
stands for Central Processing Unit. It is the main chip or brain. You
can't restore a piece of hardware. You restore the contents of the hard
drive including the operating system.

System32.dll is not a valid XP OS file, it is associated with malware. Are
you sure about that error message? The exact wording is important. If it
is, in fact, system32.dll then here are some links for malware removal.
Since you have been doing some sort of system restore, which you haven't
specified how, and the problem recurs after a while, you have to examine
what is causing the system to get repeatedly infected.
