My son gave me his computer because it does not work, I plug the pc, the
power supply and the fan in the power supply fan comes on and the orange
light on the front of the case comes on but nothing else comes on. cound this
be something is wrong with the motherboard?

It could mean a lot of things, but I'd start by swapping out the power

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
