When I try to open the directory 'System Volume
Information' I get the message; access denied
I am administrator on my home computer running XP.
How do I get access to this directory?
Cheers, Paul

Found the answer in the knowledge base.
Basically use folder option, view, remove 'use simple
file sharing'. Right click on folder, chose properties,
add new user.

Greetings --

What, precisely, are you trying to accomplish?

The System Volume Information is the hidden, protected operating
system folder in which WinXP's System Restore feature stores
information used to recover from errors. It's really not a good idea
for you, or any utilities or antivirus applications, to directly
access the contents of that folder, unless you expect to have no
future use for the restore points, in which case it would be simpler
just to turn off the System Restore feature.

Now be very careful what you do.
Hopefully not delete anything.
There is a right way and a wrong way to delete data from the System
Volume Information.
