System volume check for errors

When I try and do a volume check for errors, it will come back and say cannot
open volume for direct access volume is done checking and I am not sure why
any suggestions out there.

Thank you Ted I figured it out it was a file that came from spyware doctor
the file was iklayer.sys after I deleted the file the volume check for errors
worked.
