I have checked that the taskbar has hide inactive icons
checked, but for some reason the icons in my system tray
have stopped auto hiding when inactive, the little arrow
does not appear and the icons refuse to hide.

Any suggestions what could be causing this? I am running
XP Pro with SP1.

Many thanks

Are there any of these Tray icons that have the Always Show setting? To the right of the Hide inactive icons setting is a button titled Customize. Click it to see these Always Show settings, if there are any at all

You've solved my problem again, I'll purchase a copy of
the toolbar sw as well.. It could be useful in the future.

Hi David,

Set the first icon to always hide and the chevron will re-appear.
