Vista HP sp2 and up to date .
Recently the volume and network icons disappear from the systray. sometimes
afgter a reboot one or another return but not always. They are "greyed out"
in start menu. has anyone any idea what is causing this and how to remedy
the problem. I have tried Brink's suggestions on his site but do not have
group policy editor and cannot find any reference to hidescavolume or
hidescanetwork in the registry.
TIA

On the systray:
On Properties is auto hide (Disabled?)

The Grayed out issue:
You are saying Network and Volume are affected?
anyway for a screen shot on this?
And does your sound and network work?

On Brinks Suggestions:
Who is Brink? and what did he suggest exactly?

At the moment both network and volume icons are visible. when they disappear
, if I go to system tray properties the option to show the volume and
network icons are unavailable. the option is there but the wording is in
grey font. Initially I googled the problem and a result sent me to Brinks
web site. Brink was a frequent poster on this group some time ago.His site
dealt with the Group policies editor which Vista HP does not have. would
like to know what is causing this problem as I havve not installed anything
other than updatesTIA Keith

When did this start Happening?
at this point
