System totally freezes

my system freezes completely when i try to start anything, game/program/start
when i go to the event log it says Windows overlay components failed to
start, couldn't find the file! error 7000

any ideas other then reinstall?

You have not provided any relevant information. Did the system ever work
well? Is this a sudden error? If so what changes occurred to the system
between the time it worked and now? What is the configuration of the system?
What is the OS and service pack level? Is it updated through windows
update? What is the malware status of the computer and how do you check
that? Have you tried a system restore to a point in time before this
problem started? What happens in safe mode? Does it happen in all user
accounts?

Also you need to post the exact text of the error message and the content of
any error reports in logs in Event Viewer.
