Hello,

Can someone please clarify what actually is included in a system state
backup?

Can I restore system state backup onto another hardware instead of the one I
created from? (Hardware failure on original)

I am just hoping thazt there are no dependency regarding hardware.

Now, if that is okay, here's one more - can I restore this backup to
another machine with a different name (netbios/dns/host)?

THANKS!

There are HW dependencies and yes, there are problems. Generally if you
restore your system state to another system (with different HW), then you
have to do an upgrade, to force redetection of your system drivers.

you can restore it to different Hardware. not sure on being able to restore
System state with different name. if you were trying to restore AD then
this would not help you out cause AD needs the name the same. The only
restore i have done is to a install with the same name for disaster recovery
perposed to get the system back up ASAP. if you change names the shares
don't work anymore and you have really more work ahead of you than you want.
