I tried to do the disc cleanup but when I clicked on disc, no opetion came up
for "properties" so I could not proceed. What did I do wrong?

To start the Disk Cleanup Wizard: Start > Run > type cleanmgr > OK.

I'm not sure I understand your question but what happens if you use Start>
Accessories> System Tools> Disk Cleanup? Do you get an option there to
clean C:?

Call up task manager (crl-alt-del) and check if svchost is eating up 90%+ of
your cpu time. If so see my post under "100% cpu usage"
