Question. By computer has been shuting down on it's own
lately. What happens before it shuts down. It goes to a
blue screen with white type and it tells me to check my
memory with some type of utility that comes with winxp.
Can anyone out there help me with this?

If the machine is powering down by itself, it could be related to a
hardware error or overheating. If you feel comfortable about getting
into your machine, open the case and make sure all the fans are
working and not clogged with dirt. Check the power supply fan, case
fan, and CPU fan.

Memory errors can also cause a blue screen and power down. You might
want to check the memory modules by substitution with known good
modules. If you feel uncomfortable about getting into the machine,
take your computer to a reputable computer repair shop to have it
checked out.
