System Resumed from sleep on it's own?

Don

Hey gang,

Running Vista 64 bit SP1 with all recent updates.

Had a strange one, apparently my system resumed from sleep on it's own,
below is a copy of the event id, pointing to the usb root hub as the wake
source.

This apparently occurred, last night, at 10:07 PM. However below that, it
also states a sleep time of 1:56 am and wake time of 3:07 am.

This is first time this has happened to me. I checked in my bios, nothing is
set to wake the computer. No power on by alarm. I checked under device
manager , and under the usb root hubs, on the power management tabs, there
is not a check to allow them to wake the computer, also not a check under to
allow them to power down to save energy.

Any ideas would be appreciated,

Never mind, I think I may have found it.
Checked under my MS Office keyboard in device manager, it had somehow gotten
the checkmark back in " allow this device to wake computer".

I have unchecked it again, it used to be unchecked , mainly because I have a
cat that sometimes will jump up on my desk, that is probably what happened
this time. Not sure why all of a sudden it was checked again.

I'll wait and see if it happens again.

Thanks,

Seems to be a fairly common occurence to which I don't have a complete
answer.
One thing that you can do is to go into the BIOS and turn Wake On Lan (WOL)
off.
Regards Mike.

Thanks for the reply Mike, I think I may have found the culprit ( my usb
keyboard had allow this device to wake computer checked ).
Not sure how it got checked as I had it unchecked previously, my cat
probably jumped up on it. I'll see if it happens again.

I did double check and WOL is turned off.

Thanks,

Look at the time at which Windows is set to check for updates.

If Media Center is in use it may be checking for updated program schedules.
