System Restore

When I restore to a restore point before a program A was
installed, the program A was gone. Does System Restore
completely remove the files installed by the program A?
It is said that if I do not like the state of my
computer after the 1st restore, I can undo the
restoration or select another restore point. How many
times of undo can I repeat?
I have reversed the process twice before it comes to a
stable state with the program A is gone, but I did not
use any uninstall program to remove the program A. Is it
safe to leave it that way or should I go back to
uninstall the program first and then use the System
Restore. Then, it will be my 3rd undo.

Does System Restore
completely remove the files installed by the program A?

This is the perpose of system restore,to remove a program
that is screwing up your system.

Chances are system restore just goes back to a previous registry, thus
your pc will "think" all the files from program A are gone.

You might want to test that theory by making a restore point, installing a program, then restoring back to the point before the install. I think you will find the program's files are completely gone.

'System Restore does not replace the process of
uninstalling a program. To completely remove the files
installed by a program, you must remove the program using
Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel or the program's
own uninstall program.'

Is this true? What'll happen if I just use the System
Restore?
